Physical Development:
Weather permitting, children will play on the playground. If weather does not allow, then the children will play in the soft play area.Language:
Children will learn and practice words related to the weekly theme in another language.
Social Skills/Interaction:
Weather permitting the children will have an outdoor car wash with play vehicles, sponges, and buckets of soapy water. If the weather is poor the children can sit in a circle with 1 child holding a ball. That child names another child and rolls the ball to that child. Play continues in that way until all children have had a turn.
Educational:
Children will rotate throughout the theme related centers.
Safety/Health:Children will wash hands before and after meals and toileting/diapering. The teacher will sing the hand washing song to help teach the children about hand washing and will assist the children with hand washing.
Cognitive:
The children will play color bingo and other games and activities.
Cultural Awareness:
A theme related activity will appear in the form of a letter from the mailbox for the children. The activities will provide opportunity for the children to learn about themselves, their communities, and each other.
Emotional:
The teacher will name a facial expression and have the children cut out a picture from a magazine that they feel resembles that facial expression.
